Ming

Dear ocean, the ancient creatures navigating your depths remain a mystery. Forever.

In 2006, a team of scientists collected 200 live clams off a shelf in the Icelandic Sea. Then froze them. For study. The eldest, later discovered to be a record breaking 507-years-old. They named it Ming, as reported by National Geographic.* 

The author continues: "In the year Ming was born, Leonardo da Vinci was at work on the "Mona Lisa," the first recorded epidemic of smallpox hit the New World, and the Ming dynasty ruled China (hence the name). Ming was 52 years old when Queen Elizabeth I took the throne." 

This particular Ming enjoyed years with a very talented artist and musician and her daughter hopes the adventures continue.
