Portsmouth Ohio: Elaphe obsoleta obsoleta

Snakes aren't everybody's cup of tea. I know.

I just couldn't see anything else. I ran with it. I love it. I'm sorry. Only slightly. We can call her Elaphe. 

Twenty-three inches (23 grams) of sterling silver. Near perfect condition. Mirror shine. 

Portsmouth Ohio was my grandmother Marian's hometown, and this timeless chain owes its name to a non-venomous local creature, the black rat snake.

Marian deeply loved and had no fear of the wildest part of our world. A favourite memory -  her casual call of “Le serpent” as a rattlesnake shimmied by her in Georgian bay.

Marian continued her swim. Languidly.

May its unusual beauty bring the wearer bravery.
